WALKING PROGRAM TO HELP SENIORS STAY ACTIVE
South County Mall – Tuesday Mornings, 10:00 a.m.
Mid Rivers Mall, St. Peters - Friday Mornings, 10:00 a.m.
New Walking Program to Help Seniors Stay Active
Free fitness option for the senior community - Most of the declines experienced with aging are not due to illness, injury, or simply getting older, but actually due to inactivity. This means that many aging declines are preventable, such as: weakness, loss of independence, stamina, and falls, by simply adding more movement into our daily lives.
This is why HouseFit has decided to launch their MallFit Walking Programs, one portion of their Stay Active STL initiative. It’s a great way for seniors to come together and exercise in a warm, dry, climate-controlled environment with accessible restrooms and places to sit, if needed. Each week we layer in a challenge to focus on strength, endurance, or balance. We track progress to help people stay motivated and reach their goals. One participant, Gen Eiler, age 82, has not only doubled her walking distance in a few short weeks, but reports increased confidence with her walking, relying less on her cane, and being able to walk faster. Her and many others tell us that what they appreciate most is that we organize it, and all they have to do is show up. “We love being able to get out into the community and create a support network of like-minded
aging adults, who want to stay healthy and independent”, says HouseFit owner, Dr. Beth Templin. “The best part has been seeing the added benefit of socialization when people walk and talk for the full hour.” At HouseFit, we help adults 55+ maximize their independence and fitness, so they can continue to enjoy living a full and active life.
Join our Facebook group, Stay Active STL or join us at one of our MallFit Walking events: - South County Mall, Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. and – Mid Rivers Mall, Fridays at 10:00 a.m. For more information, visit our website www.housefitstl.com or call our office at 314-939-1377.

SENIOR SERVICES FOR OUR VETS
Never Forget the Vet Program
My mother passed away not too long ago at the age of 93. She had been living happily in an assisted living facility for just over five years once she got over her desire to never leave her home of fifty plus years. She was a WWII widow since 1969, and spent 3 months in skilled care before returning to her assisted living facility. I share my mother’s story to illustrate that at Never Forget the Vet we realize seniors have many challenges unique to seniors, go thru many of the same stages and require assistance in numerous areas. The variables are significant but not insurmountable with the right guidance. Yet to the family they are often overwhelming and hard to put together. We don’t know what the future brings. We often don’t plan for things we don’t understand or want to face. Mom and/or Dad getting older is one of them. Do not put this off. Setup a free informational session before Mom needs someone to come into her home or she needs to be moved or you need to make some other rushed decision. Explore your options before you start losing options. Call Never Forget the Vet.
